About the Aloha Pride Band
The Aloha Pride Band is Hawaii's gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender musical organization. The band was formed in the Spring of 2007 to march in the Pride Parade. Since then, performances have included AIDS Walk, Diabetes Walk, the Kaneohe Christmas Parade, a nursing home in Manoa, and events at several Times Supermarket locations. All musicians and volunteers are welcome to join us - no auditions necessary.
Founding members of the band include Jana Fry and Pamela Wolfe, who reside in Kaneohe. Before moving to Hawaii, Jana and Pam were both members of D.C.'s Different Drummers (DCDD), the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area's gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender music organization. DCDD includes a symphonic band, marching band, pep band, swing band, and several small ensembles. Pam was the Assistant Artistic Director of DCDD and Jana served as President of the Board. As members of the Lesbian and Gay Band Association, Jana and Pam both had the opportunity to perform in a massed band at Gay Games - once in Sydney, Australia, and just last summer in Chicago.
